On July 12, 2024, at about 2:22 AM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery that occurred in the 2600 block of Alum Rock Avenue. Five unidentified suspects entered a business and brandished firearms at the victims inside. The suspects took approximately $6,000 dollars worth of property including cash from the victims, then left prior to police arrival.
San José Police Department Robbery Unit Detectives began a thorough investigation into the incident. During the course of the investigation, Christopher Sanchez and Alex Maldonado were identified as two of the five suspects involved. Detectives obtained arrest warrants for suspect Sanchez and suspect Maldonado as well as search warrants for their associated residences.
On November 13, 2024, suspect Sanchez was arrested in the city of San José and booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for armed robbery. On January 8, 2025, suspect Maldonado was arrested in the city of Stockton and booked into Santa Clara County Mail Jail for armed robbery. During the search of suspect Maldonado's residence, Detectives discovered a stolen lever action rifle, an unregistered AK-47 rifle, and multiple unregistered handguns and extended magazines.
