On December 11, 2024, at approximately 5:58 PM, San José Police Department Officers responded to the area of Flickenger Avenue and Hikido Drive for a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2007 silver Toyota Camry, occupied by an adult male driver, was traveling west bound on Hikido Drive turning onto south bound Flickinger Avenue. The vehicle struck an adult male pedestrian, who was crossing east bound Hikido Drive in the crosswalk.
The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries and later stabilized.
On January 1, 2025, the Traffic Investigations Unit was notified the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on December 19, 2024.
This was the 48th fatal collision and 48th traffic death of 2024. This was also the 19th pedestrian death of 2024.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office.
