SJPD Arrests Suspect for Assault with a Deadly Weapon

On October 31, 2024, at approximately 10:25 PM, Officers responded to a report of a shooting into an occupied vehicle in the area of Peach Court and 24th Street. The suspect was driving behind the victim's vehicle and shot at the victim unprovoked, striking the vehicle. The two victims inside the vehicle were not injured. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.

The incident was assigned to the San José Police Department Assaults Unit where Detectives conducted a thorough investigation and identified the primary suspect as Isaiah Overstreet. Detectives later obtained a search warrant for the suspect's residence and his vehicle. 

On November 26, 2024, with the assistance of the Covert Response Unit, suspect Overstreet was taken into custody in the city of Colma. During the search of the suspect's vehicle and residence, Detectives located a loaded privately manufactured firearm, multiple rounds of ammunition and a compensator. The suspect was later booked into Santa Clara County main jail for multiple felony charges including shooting at an occupied vehicle and brandishing a firearm.
